Introducing AA April Showers, "April"

APHA sorrel tovero filly born April 13

By Mr Mardi Gras, out of Paint the Bar ("Rain")

April was bred by me, and bought by my working student's family.  She is back now for training and to be started under saddle.  Her dam is my most trustworthy and gentlest lesson horse.  Her dad was very gentle also, a parade horse for an Indian tribe.  She is doing great!

Below is Rain's foaling story and some earlier pictures:

Rain is a maiden mare, and she had a bit of trouble pushing, but after that, she was fine.  This filly was standing in 15 minutes, never fell down, and once up, went straight for the nipple.  She was nursing within an hour.  I was afraid Rain, my sweet goofy baby, would not know what to do, and at first she actually spooked at her own foal on the ground, but then she began nickering and licking her, more than any other mare we've foaled out.  Once she was up, Rain gently nudged her toward the milk like she was an old pro.  It was pretty amazing to see.
